Cookie Says Thanks

Cookie Last Winter (I think this was at South Paws with her favorite Froggie toy)

Cookie, our amazing burn survivor pup, came to us only because many people along the way took loving care of her. From the firefighters who rescued her, to the College Park Animal Hospital, to the people at Dawg Rescue, to the amazing staff at South Paws animal hospital, and of course Kathy and the rest of her wonderful foster family.

We know Cookie as the pup who is full of energy, can run with me for miles and miles, loves to spend time with her BFF Cooper, and can cuddle like a total love bug. The staff at South Paws new her as a total love, too, but one who had quite a road to recovery. They had her for over a month last winter, and treated her burns with hyperbaric therapy.

Thank you cookies from Cookie. :)

Today we had the awesome opportunity to go back to South Paws and say thank you. Working in healthcare, I know how rewarding it is to have a patient who was very sick come visit you after they have healed. The staff were all so happy to see her. I saw pictures of Cookie's first burn surgery, which was a reminder of how severely injured she was. The work they do at South Paws is incredible, and we are so thankful that they "adopted" Cookie and helped her heal. The kids got a tour of the oncology ward, the ICU, and the areas where Cookie spent all of her time. Today was fantastic. Thank you South Paws!!!!!

  3. I love the Cookie updates! I cannot wait until I'm in a place in life where I can adopt a rescue dog - such a great cause.

Plus, I don't think Cookie could have asked for a better home and family! :)
