Hitting the wall & New Gear

So I totally hit the wall the last two weeks. Not mentally....mentally I am psyched for this season, being a member of Team Trakkers, and my first half iron distance race at Rev3 Cedar Point. Physically, my body decided to throw me a few curve balls. I get migraines every month for a couple days, usually requiring morning workouts before the headaches get bad in the afternoon, and occasionally I skip a workout to get extra sleep. After the migraine cycle two weeks ago, I got hit with "the crud". Not the flu, but sinus congestion that totally dragged me down. Then I pulled a muscle in my back when I slid on the snow this weekend...it doesn't seem to end! None of these things are season-ending, but definitely frustrating and my training suffered a bit. Lots of stretching, a big dose of "Suck It Up!", a week or two more of base building, and I will be all good.

My Trakkers gear seems to come in the mail just when I need a little motivation. Today I got home and there was a box from Saucony waiting on the front porch. Could it be my new training shoes? I opted for the Fastwitch 4 to complement the forefoot running style I have been working on. The coolest part? They are in Team Trakkers colors. I don't know if this is the case for everyone or just a cool coincidence. It makes me want to jump on the treadmill (since the ground outside is snow-covered right now and I can't mess up the new shoes on the first day). I am definitely pumped! Did I mention these shoes weigh 6 oz.? I think that is less than most of my flip flops!

  1. Wow. Those are crazy light shoes! I'm hoping I get green ones too. Gotta look stylin' in those finish line pics...

  3. Nice shoes! Mine aren't quite that color, but they do still have green on them. Go Team Trakkers!

  5. How do you like these shoes so far? Are you a neutral runner? I'm looking at picking up a pair on my own so that I have them broken in and ready for Knoxville.
